Beware of Fake JAMB Agents

CampusDialog Alert

Don’t lose your money and your admission chance

The JAMB Change of Course/Institution portal is now open, and unfortunately, scammers are already taking advantage of desperate candidates and parents. Here’s how to stay safe and avoid costly mistakes.

1. Red Flags of Fake Agents

“I can upgrade your score”

JAMB scores cannot be altered after release. Anyone promising score upgrades is a scammer.

“Pay a huge amount and I’ll secure admission for you”

Neither JAMB nor universities sell admission. Admission is determined by merit, quota, and the CAPS system. Many candidates have lost money chasing fake “connections.”

“Send me your login details privately”

Never share your JAMB profile password or OTP with anyone. Fraudsters can hijack your profile and extort you later.

No receipt, no evidence

Always collect official printouts and payment receipts after any transaction. If an agent refuses, walk away immediately.

Operating outside accredited CBT centers

All official changes must be processed through accredited JAMB CBT centers or the official JAMB eFacility portal.

2. What’s Legit and What You Should Pay

  • Official JAMB fee: ₦2,500 per change of course/institution

  • CBT center service charge: ₦700 – ₦1,000

  • Consultant/assistance fee (optional): ₦1,000 – ₦2,500 for guidance or form filling

Anything running far above ₦5,000 for ordinary change of institution/course should raise suspicion.

3. How to Protect Yourself

1. Use accredited CBT centers only

Confirm approved centers through JAMB offices or the official portal.

2. Do it yourself if possible

The process is straightforward through the official JAMB eFacility portal:

3. Collect your printout immediately

After processing, ensure you receive the official Change of Course/Institution slip and confirm all details are correct.

4. Monitor your CAPS regularly

Keep checking your CAPS profile to confirm your changes reflect properly and to monitor admission updates.

4. If You’ve Been Scammed

Report immediately to JAMB Official Website or visit the nearest JAMB office. You should also report the matter to the police.

Keep:

  • Payment receipts

  • Chat screenshots

  • Bank transfer evidence

  • Phone numbers and names used by the fraudster

These may help investigations.

CampusDialog Viewpoint

No individual can guarantee admission outside the CAPS system. A genuine consultant can only provide guidance, strategy, and accurate information - not “special admission.”

Stay informed. Act early. Don’t let desperation make you an easy target.

If you found this useful, share it with a student preparing for admission or considering a change of institution/course.
